Spikey helmets are a must then! I'm pleasantly surprised that people actually bother with Khalid. I found the guy a total annoyance. His missus would have gone too, if I hadn't invested so much time and money on her. Maybe I'll try 'em again. The problem could have been that Khalid was in the "Death-Seat"TM, you know, slot number 2 in your party line-up. If they're going to die, I find that position to be lethal for any character. 'Course, I could be imagining things.

He is also supposed to be one heck of an archer as well...that way you can put him in the 3 or 4 hole.

Both are absolutely worth having. You can complete the game with both of them in your party. Jaheira is the difficult one, I always thought she was a bit useless in my 1st games party, but during the game I grew a weird relatioship with her and therefore couldn´t throw her out anymore, even though I wanted to. I had four archer/fighters in my party; me, Khalid, Minsc and Imoen. And I tell you, Khalid makes a great archer.

If you ask me, none of the characters are really annoying. They would be if they would interrupt the game every ten seconds, but overall everyone stay pretty quiet.

Hhmmm, I've got to stop fooling around with the IE for IWD, 'cause I thought I had Khalid in my first "completed" party (though it's so long ago I can't remember). I also thought I gave the useless b*gger the 'Gauntlets of Ogre Might', or whatever they're called in BG, as well as Kiel's basinet. Still didn't improve my opinion of Khalid though. I'll have to go back and have a look.

Khalid could be good, as he is one of TWO pure fighters in the game, and thus has the weapon specialization available.

Well, up to High Mastery anyway.

They're fine, although I often find myself wanting to smash Khalid over the head with a blunt object (I like clerics :D )...

Hey! No fair Mr. Baggins!! Your avatar is no longer the creepy looking dude with the veins bulging out of his skull! :( I guess that is incentive to get my post count up, but I refuse to do it with spam.

Lord Brass, that could be another topic thread - "The perils of the number 2 slot" Khalid was not the best choice for the number 2 position; I used Ajantis in that postion.

Yeah and all that you got for it was the kreepy four eye and a pyramid thing??? What the heck is that all about?

At leas you don't still have these snazzy dungeon dice. Hi. I'm ryaldin an i'm THIS many (holds up eight, no....nine fingers).

I like using

me (fighter)
imoen
kivan
minsc
dynaheir
yeslick

this seemed to be a really awesome party, with myself minsc imoen and kivan using bows, i mowed through the game pretty easily.

Ah missile weapons. Gods bless them, and all who fire them in anger (but not at my party).

I can't speak for BG2 'cause I still haven't started. :D But in IWD were you can get some impressive levels, characters can still find a use for such weapons, no matter what their level. Such a comforting thought.

As God is my witness, I have no idea. Gives you the impression that big brother is watching. :D

I love missle weapons. And with DSOTSC (Dark Side of the Sword Coast) loaded, you can carry 50 arrows per quiver. No more halting in mid-quest, legging to a store to buy more arrows. Sweet. Realistic? No. Fun? Yes.
