Then level him as what?

Some interesting suggestions, but i was going for the whole underdark theme over ure power, i've already got a power-party in HOF so im not too bothered if it isn'y yhe best party, i'm just trying to avoid one that will struggle. I know that an asimar would make a better pally but i was interested to see how the grey dwarf would play.

Level him as thief 1x/wizard 2x, meaning at level 12 you should be thief 4/wizard 8.

What are the advantages for the charcter having so many theif levels? the role i envisaged was a wizard who could deal with the necessary traps/ locks, rather than a multiclass, in te sense of having the abilities of both classes. if i had int 20 i would have 7(?) skill points to attribute, plenty for the mage related stuf whie keeping the theif skills at a high enough level. They would be helped by a high dex score, which would help my missile weapons too. This would give me the theif skills i need with a near enough pure wizard. Perhaps you imagined a differnet use of this character, with 3E rules even charaters with the same combination of classes can be radically different? Its one of the reasons why i still play the game.

Slippery Mind comes usefull at Thief level 10, along with the backstab and all. He gains a bit more HP, and I'd advise putting skill points into sneaking arts. And it's always helpfull to have Evasion and Imprived Evasion while you cast your Delayed Blast Fireballs and all

Personally, I think at a minimum, I would do Drow Rogue 1-3/Ranger 1-2/Wizard X. That way you get a little boost in HP plus dualing for free. IMO, there is nothing better than a Wizard dualing short swords.

What about long swords? What about holy avenger long swords? Ok, I'll stop now. Gotta go start that roleplaying party...

Isn:t the HolyAvenger only usable by Paladins? Along with the Cera Sumat?

Marty4 01-25-2005 09:02 PM

What I'm implying without breaking my "powergaming silence" is to add a paladin level or two.

Vassago 01-26-2005 01:36 PM

@Marty4,
Adding Paladin is fine, I was just suggesting as a minimium of multi-classing. Also, I prefer to dual short swords and try to minimize any BAB penalties due to using something larger. The BAB of Wizard is not that great to start with.
