Bozos of Bones 01-21-2005 11:39 AM

Funky, and quite humorous in the description
What I've found of great help i battles that have a load of normal enemies and a boss of sorts, is to go at the boss first. He is the heaviest hitter, and altho other enemies still attack you, and hurt you, it's more advantageous to kill the biggest baddie first. Enemy incapacitating spells work wonders here, as they let you hack at the main guy without worrying about the others in the room.

Updates: Kruntar and Yquog

Kruntar wants his bracers back, Yquog has them. Who am I, as a righteous paladin, to bargain with a bargest whelp? This guy gave me some problems, but a hail of magic missle from the mages took him down. Of course, the bracers are quite useful this early in the game, so after recieving experience for the return of the bracers, I attacked kruntar BEFORE giving them to him. The deep gnome served as an excelent decoy with his 27 AC, and a few snilloc's snowball storms later I was showing off my shiny new bracers. On to Guthma!

Note: The beginning of the game was tough due to me having 3 mages who needed protecting, but now that they have some level 2 spells they can start doing some more work. Also, I've decided to MC the monk to dreadmaster, but only after level squating for a while. I mean, he can easily take 4-5 hits, and since his godly AC, magic resistance and saving throws almost never let that happen, I think it is safe. I think I'll take the dreadmaster levels at... the ice temple

Also, I will mention that my cleric and ALL THREE of my mages are putting ALL their skill into spellcraft. Oh, how fun this will get with 4 (gasp) people with spirit of flame.

Oh, and my longsword-dual wielding ranger/mage has a shiny new blue sword!

About that shiny new blue sword, it deals magic damage instead of regular damage right? So would you add your strength modifyer or perhaps another modifyer to it?

You don't get any strength modifier for it, but my ranger/mage only has 12 STR, so it is better than the scimitar +1 that he was using.

I'm going to scrap my other party and start a new ALL ELF party.

Half Elf: Fighter Barbarian
Drow male: Fighter/Wizard 4/-
Drow fem: Fighter/Cleric 4/-
Wild Elf: Sorceror

and the last two other i can't make up my mind for but I'll have fun doing so!

Cool. Are your guys evil? If not, you may want some pally power in there. Also, another drow can make a nice rogue or MC rogue.

EDIT: your two other characters should either (IMHO) be an elf rogue or a drow rogue/mage, and a drow paladin. This will have you happily off with 3 tanks, a rogue, 2-3 wizards, and a cleric. Have fun!

Also, I would never "scrap" a party. I would just put it on hold for now. Someday I will probably resurrect that pally party thread...

I would leave it as a 4 person party.
Add Rogue levels to the Fighter/Wizard.
Make the Fighter/Cleric evil to obtain a nice short sword in Targos.

If there is only 4 people, then I would change the fighter levels to 2 paladin levels and take rogue levels, leaving more room for mageness. I would keep the cleric good and go for a morninglord for more spell bombardment, but that is strictly preference.

I am taking a powergaming break. Don't worry, I'll be getting back to the roleplaying party tomorrow.

Update: Guthma
1 word: Stun. A single chromatic orb layed big G low, and my paladin had a fun time poking him to death after Bull's Strength :D . The rest fell easily.

Time to go on a trip... though only after buying literally all of the druid's spells, then killing them for good xp . Finally... Fireball! YES!

Ill update on Sherry soon.

Update: Battle of Andora

(I'm having some technical difficulty with the RP party, hopefully to be cleared up by this weekend)

This fight was quite fun. My paladin took down the ranger at the north side of the plateau while my monk hung out at the southern slope. When Squilly was swarmed by the rangers, web+fireball+snowball swarm sufficed to finish them off. Then my four casters had to take Illium's attention, though they aren't powerful enough to kill him. However, they survived long enough distracting him for my improptu alliance of deep gnome and paladin to take out the archers (monk in front to ward hits, paladin swinging axe from back). They broke through to Illium, and my paladin chunked him :D

On to Sherry!
