ok stumped at this point
it would really help if you listed each troubleshooting step and the result you AND your friend have taken, otherwise I can't be sure of what is going on to clarify, have both of you disabled your FWs? Can you both ping each other? are you both using PUBLIC ip's and not private ones? (privates have the form of 10.x.x.x or 167.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x) can your friend direct connect to you? if the answer is no to any of these ?s then it is a network issue or a FW issue. If not, then it's the game and I can't help anymore. Try emailing the results of your testing to Interplay. They can hopefully help more. |
Redblueflare;
Try Nightstalked's suggestion and have your friend try connecting to YOU, or try switching the host machine to another player. If you want, I would be happy to set up a test run tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday evening sometime and you can try connecting to my machine or we could try the reverse. I am POSITIVE that I am not behind any firewalls, and have had NO trouble connecting to other machines (I run under Win 98 SE). Send me a PM. PS: I'm in New Orleans so the ping rate should be good and the time zones are close. |
we can both ping each other. So that can't be it. *sigh* I'm not sure exactly what it is though. I suppose i'll fool around with the FW a little more. I'm *postitive* the problem lies with that. I'd take you up on your offer Micah, but my friends offered to help out first. Don't want to waste your time.
