Actually, the barbarian starts only w/ Light & Medium armor proficency. To wear heavy, you'll need to add a feat to it.

[img]smile.gif[/img] </font>[/QUOTE]Right now, you have 20 points for dex, so you have 5 armor class bounus due to your dex. Most armors will limit your dex bounus.Usually, the heavy armors only allow one or zero dex bounus. Right click on your armor and you will see it.
When your character has an extremely high dex such as 20 with the spell cat's grace, a light armor with a limited dex bounus as 6 may still shorten your max bounus.
So I just give such kind of characters a ROBE. Yes, a robe for mage. And I also cast mage's armor. It is a nice spell which can last a long time, while the shield spell from the items is too short.
