That *is* new to me... Interesting! I never assumed there was more behind it than just some comical relief (See LS0158's post ;) ). Not sure if I'll ever replay IWD, but quest-perfectionist as I am, I'll try to keep it in mind. Thanks!

Yes, I have found, or bought the mind blank spell Lord Brass. It was the first spell I learned of that level in my last game. It is a level 8 spell isn't it. I was playing normal with three characters with HoW, and Project Auril. Problem is I don't remember were I got it.

I know Nym had a copy in his inventory but I think I had a copy before reaching Nym, possibly from one of the HoW mages areas.

Hmmm, don't know how many times I've played through IWD, on various difficulty settings, and I have never once seen that spell. In fact, I thought that it wasn't implemented fully and was listed as a reference only.

I wonder if it has something to do with having 'Project Auril' installed...

It could be, Lord Brass but I actually thought I had found it before in Nym's inventory. Maybe it is a random spell that shows up in Nym's inventory and you are just having some bad luck in having it appear.

There are atleast 3 solutions.

The thrid one is:
If you have a Druid in your party, have him talk to the Orge. Your Druid should give the Orge a solution to its problem.

Hmmm, might try that out pritchke. Think I'll turn down the difficulty before entering the area, so if Nym doesn't have it, I can go back and try again. (Its a pain to get to otherwise.)

Anyone know the location for the "level" trigger? I need to know how far back to save it. Sorry gang, but its been a while since I went through IWD.

What excatly does Mind Blank do? ive never heard of it..

pritchke 01-29-2003 06:26 PM

Mind Blank Shields creature's mind from almost any mental effect. So you should be able to use it to protect your members from become dominated, charmed, going berserk etc. I have to confess I have not experimented with the spell much so am unsure of all things it may or may not do.

AFAIK it is the only protection from Emotion spells, something that would normally affect your characters without mercy. It (should) offer total, or near-total immunity to mind-altering effects.

Nym definitely has the 'Mind Blank' spell. It's the 'Vocalize' spell that will never show up in the game (unless you gift it to yourself : )!

Like all powerful spells mind blank is a double edge sword. If you use mind blank than that would also mean spells like courage and hope will have no effect when you use them on yourself. As well I have been wondering if it prevents the effects that a bards song would have on your party. What affects the mind better than the songs of a bard.
