Frost Giants exists in IWD. They're big.

Sux doesn't it? Shame they never gave us spells to summon giantkin :D ...as for those cloud giants, we might get a glimpse of their Big Toe...I think that's about it ;)

Don't forget the largest of them all (from the 1st ed Monster Manual) Storm Giants! So from my rapidly fading memory: Hill, Stone, Frost, Fire, Cloud, and Storm were the major species of giants

A scene I'd like to see:

Party enters the Small Teeth Pass, and casually slaughters the handful of Orcs they bump into. Party starts exploring the map, and the Tank steps on the invisible script trigger-point.
<font color=white>Cloud Giant-</font> HEADS UP.
A Comet spell is cast at the trigger-point, injuring any party members that happen to be nearby.
<font color=white>Cloud Giant-</font> SORRY.

And that's it. He didn't mean to drop that rock, he just didn't see you. Won't happen again. :D

Per 2nd edition rules, 50% are Neutral Good and 50% are Neutral Evil. The one Six is describing is Neutral Good (just dropped a boulder by mistake, and apologizes for it).

The largest among the giants are actually Titans. They form the basis of the high Strength definition:
Hill - 19
Stone - 20
Frost - 21
Fire - 22
Cloud - 23
Storm - 24
Titan - 25
Remember back in BG1? You could buy a single potion of Titan strength at the Nashkel fair. It had some *ahrm* unfortunate side effects, but that could be compensated by drinking other potions. By drinking four potions good old Imoen could have these stats:

In BG1 mind you. A critical backstab did more than 120 points of damage. POW. Down Sarevok down.
I think the highest in BG2/TOB are Pots of Storm Giant Strength, though I am frequently mistaken.

EDIT: Ups. URL typo. Bad bizz.

Yes, I've just recently battled giants in 2 places in The Darkest Day mod. A lone dummy of a giant, and a menacing trio. Frost giants, I believe they were.

And this was accessable through the SOA portion of the game (with TDD and TOB).
