What Makes The Wolfwere's Hard, Is That You Have To Do It, No Matter What Level You Are. Whereas, The Warders, You Can Go Out, Train Up, And Then Return.

I once had an ambush sprung on me and Imoen by
8-10 bandits after leaving the first area east of Candlekeep - at lvl 1 those guys made pincushions out of the both of us. Of the regular battles I would say the house in Baldurs Gate (see above) or the Wolfweres. |
I think the secret Squirrel Goddess fight is the toughest. She throws exploding acorns that she keeps in her cheeks at you.

I thought that 'summoned mage' and his lackeys at the Nashkel Cemetary was the hardest battle I took part in. Those warders in Durlag's take a good second place.

Warders is quite hard!</font> |
I would definately say that the hardest battle in the entire game would be the demon after you finish Durlag's Tower and head back to Ulgoth's Beard. I never did finish that one... reloaded about 20 times and finally gave up and went on.
