There is a cheap cheesy tactic you can do, (not that I've ever used it...) you know how you can hit the "space" bar? to pause the game? Repeatedly bash it, and you'll managed to hit the thing, and its attacks (most of them) will be paused..and it wont be able to hit you. This tactic sucks. I personally recordment.. running ;) retreat to the staircases, both of them, 3 memembers on each side, and use the bottle necking tactic ;) summon creatures and use 2 fighters to hole up the gap, while casting spells (storm of vengence is good for taking down cronnies imho.) And use ranged weapons too. Equip ur clerics/mages with slings everyone else with bows (except the fighters)... then shoot. when you feel confidence enough, break the bottle neck, and charge him from both sides at once, if you've done it right, hes likely to be wounded serverly, and you shouldnt loose anyone...

Didn't have any mord's swords.. I found it to be a weak spell. My mage is Sorceror is more of a Evocation/Alteration/Necromancy/ caster (death magic). I summoned devas/planetars/and skeletons for cannon fodder and used spellstrike, incendiary cloud like 5 times and horrid wilting 3 times on the whole bunch I had imoen cast Mass Invisibility/non detection on vickie myself and herself. I cast Time stop just to take out the mereliths myself I Love the +6 staff of the RAM.. great weapon for a mage. Had to cast time stop 2 times to kill all the mereliths. Cuz Saeravok died. I had no rings of gaxx/ I did however have a ring of anti-venom but I was wearing it.. (It wouldn't allow me to carry them over into ToB), I had to start from scratch for weapons and armour, to say the least it was tough. I thought it was kind of funny now that i was immune to all wepons +1 and under and going thru ToB everyone had a +2 or better weapon, I found that cheesy.

I did few spell strikes/Pierce Shields on the old boy and a few greater malisons and I managed to polymorph him as well as feeblemind him. after that it was rather simple. I just started playing with him after that. I tried to Imprison him as well but it didn't take him. Even tho it said he was "imprisoned" thought that was kind of cheap. I also managed to drain 4 levels using energy drain.

Kind of like the Djinn in Uth Natha in the underdark where the drow would cast spells at it and heal it just to keep it alive and torture it.

Mordenkainen's Swords are immuned to physical damage, elemental damage, psionics, strike as a +4 enchanted weapon and generally kick butt.

It can only be hurt by Magic Damage, Petrification/Death Spells and is affected by Arcane Charm or Confusion. If its' maximum duration of 2 minutes had been increased to hours, it would replace the Skeleton Warrior as my favourite summon.

Take heed! MSwords are not weak! It can actually tank things like Demogorgan better than a Planetar... ...

If you are talking about Demogorgan, I am going to have to call your bluff. ;) Refer to my first post in this thread to find out why.

PS: Greater Malison does not stack. Not that it can affect Demogorgan in the first place anyway... ...

Plus, Dundee, I saw Mord's swords doing 20+ damage to Demo while even Minsc with Improved Gram was only doing 15. They are my favourite spells. I prefer them to skeletons, actually, never mind the shorter duration :D

LOL! I did the full kit'n'caboodle, hasted, blessed, chanted, resist fear (well, they were near my party, they got the bonus) and ever protection from evil (I wasn't going to take any chances...)chaotic commands, aid, improved haste (what can i say? ALL of my mages had amulets of power and robe of vecnas-I couldn't be bothered to so for slow casting time) and they walked through everything. They only needed a little help-a lower mr here, a pierce shield here, you know the drill :D

Dundee Slaytern 10-04-2002 01:41 PM

*cough* *cough*

All your Mages have the Amulet of Power and Robe of Vecna?
