<blockquote>quote:</font><hr>It's not that easy, trust me. I thought so too.
If you figure out how to do it, post it here.<hr></blockquote> Hmm, wonder what did they do there then.. Well, that certainly raised my curiosity, so I will definately check it out. Interesting... The main trick is that while IEEP is good, it's still not official and a lot of data is either not complete or missing. Eh, Bioware should release their Item Builder and even Map builder, you know, to let people create their own modules and stuff :D Like they plan with NWN. |

Bio seem to think that the Infinity Engine's still proprietary, even though it has no more realistic commercial application. :( Having said that, a hell of a lot of reverse engineering's been done by guys like Ken and TeamBG to make customizing accessible to relative newbies. Just think of how much more of a hassle it would be if you had to hex-edit everything you wanted to customize. ;) |
Hmm... The old cloak of mirroring was evilly overpowered... New version is reasonable (if ugly). Hmm.. I hope my signature thing works this time... lol, i'm so dum. ;)

Cope and paste the below into your sig box, but replace the parentheses ( and ) with square brackets [ and ]. <font color="silver"> (img)http://images.cafepress.com/prodtn_nocache/1107190_F_TN.jpg(/img)</silver> To get this: http://images.cafepress.com/prodtn_n...07190_F_TN.jpg |
*kisses Memnochs pointy feet* ;) THANK YOU!

hmmm....very interesting. Stinking Cloud, Web, Cloud Kill, Death Fog, and Incendiary Cloud all have an effect upon the wearer of the cloak; direct damage spells--even Skull Trap, Fireball, and Delayed Blast Fireball not cast directly upon the wearer--do not have any effect. Except Skull Trap, all these spells have a duration of 1 turn and an area of effect of a circle with a 30-foot radius. One basic spell, with the damage/3d effects altered, perhaps? Curiously enough, only Fireball has one extra--casting the spell sets the global variable "mgarea1" to 1, then 2 seconds later back to 0. No other spell has this.
Anyway, the cloak's effect (hex code 205) almost seems to make the user immune to magical damage, like a cross between Protection from Magical Energy and Spell Deflection, except a few area-effect spells are absorbed/deflected. These spells have a target type of "any target", a damage type of "piercing", and a type of "ranged". The cloak's wearer is also immune to the magical effects of Slay Living, Finger of Death, Cause Light/Medium/Serious Wounds, Harm, Summon Insects/Insect Swarm/Creeping Doom, Shocking Grasp, Ghoul Touch, Vampiric Touch, and Black Blade of Disaster; physical damage is still inflicted. Effect #205 is also referenced in Otiluke's Resilient Sphere, which makes the target of the spell almost impossible to harm in any way whatsoever. Is this a start or what? Oh, by the way--the Spell Trap globe effect is part of the code; copying the effect of the cloak onto an otherwise normal ring copied the globe effect, as well as the protection from magical damage. (See Memnoch's comments earlier about the effect....) |

If you want the old Cloak of Mirroring back, go to the override-folder in your BGII-SoA directory and get rid of the file clck26.itm. Just stick it in some other folder or delete it altogether. This reverts the Cloak to wat it was in SoA.<hr></blockquote> Does this work???? cause if it does stuff cheating im doing it :D |

Your override folder is where stuff like item updates, patches, etc are all put. The game checks the override for updated files. By deleting CLCK26 from your override the game will then revert to the "old" Cloak. That's all that happens. |
O... so thats y when u make custom items u put them in that folder???

That's also why your override folder gets overloaded with .itm, .bam, .spl and a whole bunch of other files when you install ToB - Bioware got a bit lazy and just decided to stick all their updates in there. ;) |
