yes, but the final save appears right at the top of the list, and the list starts where you last loaded from, so i never saw it. i never even remembered it until i went back to the Thron of Blood and it auto-saved, but autosave was still in leaving the north forest (i went to the merchant while health potionhunting). so I went back and did tha ravager again and bought some more scrolls, trying to level up. got one. anyway im past the mellissan second round now. the third one is far tougher. typical, but ill beat it. somehow. i think.
still everyone else in this city seems to be stuck on the second round as well, from the sound of it. so ill finish first yet. |
Beat her at last. for those who want to know how:
mellisan, 3rd round: 5 mordkainen's swords hang around at the top of the platform. mellissan raises 4 shadow slayers and teleports to the top of the platform. i whirlwind the slayers and the swords, either disrupt mellissans timestops or i got lucky. either way, by the time she got round to death spelling them, i had 3 fighters greater whirlwinding her. jaheria died because i attacked before breaching the blade barrier, thats the price of impatience. rest (wish) fallen solar and pals: the problem here is the alu-fiend(since it dire chrams) and the solars bow, which seems to be either vorpal or extremely heavy hitting. the alu-fiend was my first target followed by the solar itself. the mariliths fell quickly once i breached their stoneskins. the succubus did not appear on this occasion, i think its either summoned by one of the others or got killed in my first salvo of spells. probably the former. all stats boosted to 25 for four rounds (wish, but i got bored waiting for rest to come up) mellisan 4th round: expecting the most difficult battle i had ever experienced, i went in with my boosted stats expecting to die quickly and reload to rest and try again. instead i chunk a slayer, ignore a pair of galbrezu and finish mellisan on the first attempt. probably the easiest battle of them all. either that or the same as the first one. was it really fair of them to put a named sword, a scimitar+3 : waters edge about 30 seconds from the end of the game? i think not. also was it fair to introduce a powerful new enemy type (the shadow slayer) in the ending sequence of the game? i also think not. |
I'm at the same place as well now, I underestimated how tuff the end battle sequence would be for this very reason - I had no idea it would be a sequence of battles, and I cannot rest. I rested a lot in the game. Sometimes before every room I would pocket plane myself. I defeated her once, wiped out the eles, and then all my guys were knocked down followed by a time stop and several spells aimed at my poor little Jan Janson - unfortunately he didn't make it. I was beat bad at that part of the sequence. Tell me, my group consists of
me-mage jan valygar sarevok korgan and the drow cleric - forgot her name atm. we're all level 21-24...is this to early in levels to be fighting the ending sequence? I haven't done watchers keep yet, should I go do it now? |
i can't really relate... i was so excited to finish the game i had to cheat! i oculdn't beat the ravagers butt and so on or, i didn't want to...

Kelsoph - while you cant rest, you can save. i give a tactic above that beats mellissan 2nd round , but you might not have sufficient mages to get enough skull traps out. you can also place summons anywhere, w/o them being teleported right in front of her. that should allow you to distrupt that damn time stop. with luck. the problem in all of these battles is rarely melissan herself, but more often those blasted slayers and balors.
going to watcher keep might be a good idea as well. my favorite weapon on all of abeir-toril (foebain+5) can be found there, as well as many, many magical items of extreme potency. my main char was a level 32 fighter by the time i finished these battles, so a little more XP will come in handy. anyway, good luck and keep at it. it is doable. no matter how much it seems otherwise. |
