"blackjack"?

I shall smite at thee with my full house!-eth
:D couldn't resist. Back on topic, i know for a fact that it was called sneak attack in 3rd ed, but im not sure about before then. I know it works much the same way in IWD2 (3ed) as it does in BG2 (2.5ed?) however, in NWN (3ed) you would get flanking attacks as well |
Well sneak attack leaves something to be desired as well. After all a non-backstab attack from shadows is also possible. The word "backstab" implies that the attack must come from a direction where the attack is not noticed (i.e. from behind) and is as such better despite it does not have to be a stabbing/piercing weapon.
I am too old to be taught new tricks. Frankly there are better RPGs than (A)D&D and I would rather spend my time and energy with those. I do play D&D, but that is only for the atmosphere. For this 2ed rules are superior as I know them inside out and don't have to roll nearly as much (or consult the books). |
