Yes, it just stops her from going below 1HP. And she leaves the party if she does (which I didn't want her to do). It doesn't stop her taking damage in the meantime though, and she definitely took some from that Delorous Decay

Well you can cheese it and use the imoen trick to make her invincible, then let her tank for you.

Its fun to try, but I hardly ever use it since I rarely play with npcs. The trick is get her down to 1 life so she screams and tries to leave, then talk to her again so she won't run away so quickly. Then cure light wounds on her and talk a third time. Let her rejoin, and press ctrl-y on her all you want, she isn't going to die...

@D*Ranged, I don't think there is a way to make a certain CLASS of weapons ineffective, only normal, +1, +2, etc... And yes, I used the poison to kill him. I hate that stupid insect plague that robs you of your life if you get too close.

A monster can have crushing, slashing, or piercing damage resistance in addition to missile damage resistance. This is why for example clay golems are immune to slashing weapons.

They are immune to the damage, but are still hit by the weapon. This is different than the weapon being ineffective. When the monster is immune, they get hit, and all other affects that trigger on a hit are used. That means if clay golems could cast spells, you could attack them with any weapon of +1 or better and disrupt the spell. Similarly, the illusionary werewolves in the circus do no damage, but will still interrupt a spell. On an ineffective hit, nothing happens except fireshields and a few other triggers that I don't remember off the top of my head.
