His comments on Anomen are rather spoilerish, but vague enough to not require a warning about it. I would change it though: Since Nightcloak hates Annoyman for his persistent arrogance, if I were IronDragon I would point out that there is a way to alter Anomen's personality for the better. |
hmm yes, ive already stumbled on the way to alter Anomen's personality, or at least am on the road to. With such an unfortunate event in his life, ive taken pitty on him. He is more than welcome in my party, as long as he can tolerate Viconia. However, I had to. . . remove a certain Dwarf after he went on about how one of the other party members disgusts him to the bone, and the fact that hes blinded by raiding certain crypts for some treasure I honestly can care less about.

Question: How can you be RPing a LG party and have Viconia in your party?

. . . . . . . . . . One reason is that not all Drow are necessarily unredeemable. Yes, the majority of their race seem committed to evil. However, some have sought to better themselves and their race, such as Drizzt and Solafein. Why not Viconia? Yes, her alignment is evil, but perhaps she can be influenced to change... Surely this is a noble cause for a lawful good character? |

This event in Anomen's life (even more so if you're romancing him), is an enormous part of character development. As a matter of fact, he's the only NPC (aside from a few that you can dual class) that the protagonist has such a choice over his development! |
Why do I have Viconia in my party? Why you ask?
1) The circumstances by which we met. A fanatical Drow burning where they didn't provide any just cause for murdering her. The fact that she is a Drow, and just so happen to be mingling amongst surface dwellers is perhaps questionable. But they had nothing else to go on except her race. Lets not stereotype here. There are good and bad souls in every group, no? 2) She offered to join my cause as a means to repay the debt she owed to me. Now, I would not have really accepted, but I could use all the help offered to me to help get Imoen back, and she accepted even after I told her about my quest. (Seems good to me). 3) Her personality and the subtle good deeds she questions are a product of what she was taught as she grew up in the Underdark. Society is very different in her world and in her point of view, certain things aren't evil. It is the nature of things. 4) I meant I was Neutral Good, I understand a balance of things, and strive for goodness, but am not overly zealous about the fact. I am not blinded by the things that lawfull good PC's might jump to do. Slay what looks evil, ask questions later. For all I know, Viconia might attempt to do good in the only way she knows how, which may appear evil. - Viconia stays, unless I decide otherwise. Good and Evil are only perceptions. However all humans have the ability to judge and choose, so sometimes there are no exceptions. [ 10-31-2004, 07:59 PM: Message edited by: Nightcloak ] |

my feelings are that while this guy thinks of a carrion crawler as a friend, he's obviously deluded or ensorcelled. for me, it's not really a tough decision. free the man. give him back his life, family and friends. who chooses freely to live in a sewer of their own accord? ick. V***V |
well how on earth do you know about that?
|
Because carrion crawlers are odious, reeking, putrid creatures that feast on human flesh, and if you befriend one you're either enchanted or quite mad.
|
Still, the question stands to be answered, Illumina. A DnD newbie wouldn't know the first thing there is to know about carrion crawlers. The only available hint at the solution is the dialogue between the PC and Quallo where he says something about the crawler being his friend.
Honestly, I didn't know what to do at that moment as well. I started thinking of killing Anomen but didn't consider him friendly enough for the description |
