I can certainly see your point of view

In other forums that I have belonged to ( Axis and Allies, Age of Kings), there have been similar concerns aired about the game engine allowing exploits which are either rediculous or contrave the stated, sometimes very well established rules.

What they did to address these issues was to created clubs where central rules were posted and had to be adhered to. That way everyone was on a level playing field

A lot of people have it, for fairly obvious reasons - It is the softest statistic in the pack

Certain goodies can bump it up when needed, which seems to be very rarely

So why would anyone want to sacrifice another ability for charisma?

Lets face it, we are playing in the "City of Coin" and as a certain character says: "Hellspawn or artison, all that matters is the deal"

I dont think that these people care if you pick your nose at the dinner table, while swigging down water from the finger bowl

They have only invited you to dinner, because they expect you to pay for it!

There is an aspepct of roleplaying. If your idea of your characters personality is someone who runs up and down mooing like a cow and shakes uncontrollably if anyone starts talking to them then by all means set your charisma to 3. This is no exageration. As I said, the proportion of a population who have 3 for any given statistic is the same as the probability of rolling straight 1s on 4 dice. Imagine your school/college. The wierdest kid there has a charisma of 3.
Any stat of 5 or below is exceptional and demands an explanation.

I'm shocked, when I moo like a cow people think I'm hilarious! If I was a character, Charisma would be my best stat. But as it is, I have a charisma of 3. Paldins have such crappy stats, not being able to have a low charisma...

Friggin powergamers.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 06-26-2004 11:57 AM

FSA: Which is worse, a powergamer or a spammer?

Now, I might think that mooing and shaking might also indicate a serious mental problem, which would be pinpointed in Intelligence, not Charisma... A 3 in Charisma isn't just bizarre behavior. Hell, It's one step up from being a mustard jelly... and I would imagine a character with a 3 in any of the 'soft' stats (Charisma, Intelligence, or Wisdom) would be unable to function independently.

A powergamer, of course! :D

I have a sorceress with a charisma of 3 , but she's reeeeeally evil. She likes to nuke chickens & squirrels. I've even got her using that female ogre voice. No mooing, though. Yet.

Master Rahl 06-26-2004 02:42 PM

Mooing along

I often have a very low charisma

Not a problem though, as everyone had better pretend that they like me or they get hammered. (GRIN)

I love the paladin's high charisma, cuz you always get to imagine having the funnest lines in response. I especially like the guy delivering the ridiculous, or joke lines. BG1 has, one of my favorites, "For 50 gil, he can wipe his own arse with it. Say, have you heard the one about the halfling that crawled into the keg to get the last drop of ale?" Or something like that. :D
Also, anyone else notuce that "spam" is quite possibly the most used word on this forum? Or, at least acronym!

Firestormalpha 06-27-2004 12:28 AM

Yup, we seem to use it for just about any post we don't like, or decide is out of place. *shrugs*

Oh yeah, Dron_Cah, did you go into the game just to get that line? Cuz that's exactly the line, word for word.
