SixOfSpades aleady beat me to this point - but Minsc also has full proficiency in the Mace. He should dual-wield Azuredge and MoD.
Oh..wait...Azuredge won't let you dual-wield (IIRC). DRAT. Forgot about that. I don't remember if you can "turn off" the throwing function of Azuredge. Either that, or try equipping IT in Minsc's off-hand (since he wouldn't be throwing with that hand). Those two ideas might allow you to wield MoD and Azuredge at the same time, but I don't know for sure if it will work.
As for Daystar, I always let Yoshimo carry it.
I've only faced the vampire mob once so far, and I beat it with some help from summoned creatures. I had Jaheira in the party (and Aerie IIRC). We had rescued Haer Dalis from his planar prison, but didn't keep him in the party. However, I DID find a really nice Staff of Air there that can summon Air Elementals once per day. I believe I had Aerie use that and Jaheira summoned an Earth Elemental. You have to be in the hallway leading to the door to do this, though - because neither of the elementals will fit through the doorways. But this works to your advantage.
I sent both elementals towards the room with the vampires. They got stuck in the doorway and couldn't go any farther - but the vampires couldn't get out either!!! :D This gave me a few rounds to attack them with impunity. Yoshimo led off with the Sunray from Daystar. That killed several of the vamps. Then Aerie followed up with a Fireball and that took care of most of the rest. Any that were left over were easily mopped up by the party with ranged weapons.
