You don't have to leave the main underdark cavern to get to the svirfneblin village. Just go as far to the north, and as far to the west as you can, but stay on the main underdark cavern map. You'll see some of the gnomes, standing in front of a rope bridge, which you can cross, and enter the village. from there, you can find a few rooms/buildings to enter, where you can talk to the gnomes, and one of them will give you a quest to help him, in exchange for helping you. There aren't that many gnomes in the village, so he won't be hard to find.

When you hawe done the quest (Trapped the deamon) then you get a light gem.and now go to the cavern on the left side of the drow city(You cant go in whitout the gem)There you meat a *silver dragon*She giwes you a quest *to retreve her stolen egs.The egs are in the temple in the golem room in the drow city.When you hawe giwed her the egs she will teleport you to another area.There you find some drows to fight whit and yust continiu trow the *Passage*And you meat some other drows.After you killed them yust continiu up and you soon find some *Elfes*Help them (You dount need to)to kill the drowes and then you can go to the surfice.God luck.

Their gnomes.

Svirfneblin are Gnomes, but they're typically not Evil. Duergar (Grey Dwarves), however, are usually of Evil alignment, but casting Detect Evil in the main cavern proves that Carlig and his friends are not Evil.

To futher clarify a few things:
The map where you first show up upon entering Chapter 5: Main Underdark Map
Western Tunnels: Kou-Toa Caverns, although there are also 3 Beholderkin & a handful of Drow.
Southern Tunnels: Beholder Hive, although there are 3 Mind Flayers and a handful of Drow.
Eastern Tunnels: Illithid City, although there are a few Sahuagin and Kou-Toa.
Northern Passage #1, "Dark Cave": The lair of Adalon.
Northern Passage #2, "Entrance to Ust Natha": The Drow city, although there are a small amount of Illithids and Githyanki.

*North passage #2* are you talking about when your NEAR the city or IN the city??.IN the city is no *Evil* illithids or githyankis.I cant remember if its NEAR the city any illithids or githyankis.

thanks, guys. i found the gnomes last night, and i felt really stupid for not finding them before! i just never went further north as i found a place to the west (kuo toan lair). well, i'm now drowified and am just entering the city. thanks alot! [img]smile.gif[/img]

ok so there gnomes... both dwarves and gnomes are short and basically anything that lives in the underdark is evil or is just not too intelligent to find a way out

There are 2 of each species in Ust Natha, although I've never checked if they were Evil or not....but I'd be surprised if they weren't. (Yeah, a Neutral Good Mind Flayer. He's hoping to join the Temple of Lathander.)

Considering all the hoops that *you* have to jump through in order to get out, I wouldn't be belittling anybody's intelligence. ;)

what do you mean? My paladin went through with an intelligence of 4 singlehandedly, of course i didnt even try to take on the illithids, but thats self explanatory.
