The great thing is, you don't have to treat him like a dumbed down mage if you don't want to. Instead, learn spells that improve your fighting ability and defence. Combine those with blade special abilities and dual weilding (I'm dual weilding axes...sweet!) and you have a kick ass character.

Bards can also identify.... saving you hundreds of gold you can spend on other stuff. They also have their harp, which has its uses when you find yourself getting desparate and in need of an inspiring war song. [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Yes bards is good but ill find them alitle hard to play whit in the beginning.(Dount know whye youst Found it veary difficult)But anyway i yused a bard when i first completed Soa/Tob and its a great shoice.
