Ok, I have been through Baldur's gate so many times now and am looking for something else to play I guess. I love the ranger type character, a few minor priest spells, switching from long bow to weapons and stealth. However this game is all focused on magic, if you can't cast mage spells then soloing is a tedious affair. I was wondering if anyone had played games that weren't focused on magic, but rather on melee where you could still be a ranger type.

if youre looking for another game, try NWN. not as good, but not as magic focused either(infact, i think its more melee focused) </font>[/QUOTE]Thanks, I'll check it out. Is NWN the one where you can import from BG2? Is it a decent single player game like Baldur's Gate or all online?

well NWN is 3d and there was plans to be able to import, but it didnt happen that way since it uses the newer rules.

the single player campaign isn´t great but fun for a short while. the real fun lies in playing fan created modules, which can be rally good (and really bad, of course), and online.
NWN is more melee favouring, at least i think so.

Why alternate? What's wrong with just picking the one that does the most damage and using that until they die?

Because the arrows that do the most damage are all enchanted, and Wizards (especially with Tactics installed) have a really bad habit of casting Protection from Magic Weapons. But when they do, you can switch to your Normal arrows, and then Gesen's electrical damage will penetrate their Stoneskin and cause Spell Disruption.

Yes, but if you have Tactics installed, then they will often have both Protection from Magical Weapons and Protection from Normal Missiles, making it a tedious affair to try and wait it out.
