on a scale of 1-10, in terms of story/plot where is iwd2 at ? (baldur's gate 2 being a 10)

andrewas 08-01-2003 06:27 AM

It has a plot, but its completely linear, and the emphasis is on the combat rather that the roleplaying. If your faveorite part of BG2 is the fights, go for IWD2. If you like the conversations and such better, try Planescape:Torment.

what do u mean by "completely linear"?

Xen 08-01-2003 06:44 AM

He probably means that is absolutely clear what is happening and there aren`t many sidequests.
andrewas?

I heard from my cuz who played IWDII that it is the battles would be heaps tougher as they are based on your current xp pts and level of your character...
so the monsters that appear relative to your xp.
Thats all I can tell you :/

Personally i would go for Lionheart. I heard its a cross between diablo and baldurs gate.

Correct, you do exactly what the designers meant you to do in the order they meant you to do it. Where with BG and PS:T you spend time exploring and just looking around, in IWD2 its go there, kill this, kill that, go there, kill that kill him etc etc ad nauseum.

Its trying to be IWD, which is all about combat(and thats how they meant it to be). Plancescape is about the dialogue options and such(at least thats the impression i got from it. havent finished it yet), and Baldurs Gate is mix between the two, and in my opinion, the best!

So basiclly another hack`n`slash. Hehe BG II is older but better.
I think they screwed up IWD II and NWN. NWN is saved by MODders and Multi-Player,IWD II is saved by

Not really. I've played IWD and BG2, and if you read my signature there for a while you might have noticed I thought IWD was all battles and no plot. After playing the game, I found it to be kinda like the early Zelda games. Yeah, there's a main plot, and not too many side quests, but the ones that ARE there are, IMO, better done than the ones in BG2. From what I've read about IWD2, it's like the first game, just 100-200 years later.
