i'm confused for this is my first time fully playing the game so help me.

Are you asking this due to wanting to add Imoen back in after you get her back? Or are you just bored with/fed up with/wanting to spice up the party? It would help if you gave more details.

If the former case, then I will not spoil the plot for you (it is MUCH better if you find out on your own). Let's just say that Yoshimo is the most expendable. I mean, you have Valygar that can backstab, and Imoen who can get rid of traps and locks. Other than the trap setting, you really do not need Yoshimo once you get Imoen back.

If the latter, or you plan not to add Imoen back into the party, then look at how well rounded your party is. You have plenty of mage power between you and Aerie, and also have plenty of priestly magic between Aerie and Jaheira (others may hate Aerie, but I think she is especially useful due to her ability to back up both mage and priest). However, without spoiling too much, you may still end up with Yoshimo out of the party when you go to get Imoen, and the only choice (other than going without a thief) is to add Imoen. Thus, back to the paragraph above. Minsc is good enough as main tank, and with the right equipment both Jaheira and Valygar can back him up quite nicely.

However, since based on the above paragraphs, you will end up with 3 mages (Aerie, Imoen, and yourself), then I would use the blitzkreig tactic. Blast everything with wizard spells (of which you have plenty), then send in the tanks to mop up the few things left alive. I played a similar party that you are using (PC sorcerer with Imoen and Aerie backing him up), and nothing could stand in our way. The tanks barely got a lick in.

Keldorn is one of the BEST NPC`s IMHO.
He has really nice abilities(True Sight,Dispel Magic twice his level) and he can use the best Weapon in SoA.

Go temple district to Order of the radiant heart.

I say go with Keldorn and lose Valagar. Like an earlier poster said, Valagar requires his own tactics that can be annoying for a first-timer. Keldorn is a little more straightforward -- just make good use of his Dispel Magic ability. Plus, it looks like you have a good aligned squad -- Keldorn will enjoy that.
