Why is it that smaller races have more body hair anyway?

LOL! Think it was on SOS' (excellent) site:

"You don't want to be wandering round the Sword Coast with gender issues!"

If you can put aside the fact that the females look like males onscreen, the small races have great benefits. Dwarves and halflings get bonuses to their saving throws. A halfling can get 19 dexterity, same as an elf, while a dwarf can get 19 constitution.

I'm playing a party with a halfling kensai near the lead. Gesherei isn't the party leader, but she can do without much gear what Gideon the undead hunter party leader can do decked-out in full armor. His AC is lower, but her saving throws are lower. And her kensai stun abilities have saved his sorry hide countless times, mostly when he failed his save and stood there like a ninny while the enemies used him for target practice.

I'm aware of the benefits of the smaller races, Pirengle the BNM.

I used a half-ling swashbuckler several months ago, and I was amazed by her skill and saving throws.. still I prefer to play with a elf or human, just because I'm not a fan of smaller people in BG I & II.

I can't imagine a gnome with a two-handed sword for instance or a halberd that is even big for a grown man.

Its just my play style, smaller races don't fit in with my playing style.. thats it.. ;)

To arms, fellow Gnomes, Halflings, and Dwarves! He shall take back that heresy or his kneecaps are ours, for there is no kneecap we cannot conquer! Although on Giants we must settle for ankles; and only a toe-knuckle on Dragons. And I'm not entirely certain how far we'd get versus a deity, but suffice it to say it'd be *quite* the inconvenience.

Speaking of the Paperdoll vs. Avatar discrepancy, my current PC uses the Male Dwarven Mage avatar. His paperdoll looks rather like Korgan in a Mage Robe (Things You Never Thought You'd See, #378), but his animation looks exactly like Jan Jansen. A pity, that.

In defense of the smaller races: ToB Spoilers
My favorite method for dealing with the Fire Giants is Backstabbing. Trust me, you've never seen funny until you've seen a 30-foot-tall Fire Giant, running for his life in a blind panic, being chased around and around a pillar by a Gnome. Oh, and they're both Hasted.

another note about the wee folk is that they all get great saving throw bonuses, dwarves get them to poison, rod/staff/wand and spell, gnomes get them to r/s/w and spell, and halflings IIRC get poison and spell bonuses.

I've always dreamt of making a mod that gave female dwarwes and gnomes their missing avatars, but someone said it was impossible.

The female gnomish illusionist case is a travesty!
