How about no robe of vecna + amulet of power + Staff of the magi
And then start thinking of restrictions... with the basis being that those items cannot be used.

Or, you could play a Sorcerer the way he was meant to be played. All spells picked at random or by school.

Now, an Enchanter or Transmuter sorcerer would be kinda cool. No getting spells from the opposition school either, and, all spells for that school must be picked for that level before you can select others.

And an extra spell of each level?

Why don't we throw in absolute minimum stats as well? And heck, let's include no equipment as well.

Thing is, you already sacrificed a lot by soloing. You gain some, you lose some. Soloing without summons is feasible, although it will be a different story without clones.

Hmmmm... a fiery Sorcerer... hehehehe... or you can be an insane Chaotic Evil Sorcerer who destroys everything in less than a turn in each area. My concept of a solo Sorcerer is based on a Chaotic Good one.

Different players will have different ways of playing, and their spell lists will differ accordingly. As I written on my webpages, my spell list is merely a guide, not the absolute. I tweak it now and then to suit MY playing style.

Allow me to lay this out.

In PnP, unless you have a very kind DM, you do not get to pick your sorcerer's spells.

Sorcerers can go several ways on how their spells are selected.

Randomly. This can provide an entertaining sorcerer. Ending up with a rather weird spell selection will force you to play at the top of your game, using every ounce of wit to survive with what you have.

Effect based sorcerer. As mentioned, a fiery sorcerer. Spells selected would be considered first from the fiery spells. Burning Hands, Scorcher, Flame Arrows, Fireballs, Sunfires, Incendiary Clouds, Delayed Blast Fireballs, etc. Or you might have a weather based sorcerer. He might summon various cloud based attacks and storms. Stinking Cloud, Cloudkill, Icestorm, etc. He might even get spells that normal mages do not cast, like for example, an earth based sorcerer might get Earthquakes. A school based sorcerer, like for example, a Necromancy based sorcerer, would get all of the Necromancy based spells at his disposal for each level, any left over spell slots could go to complimentary schools, but, he would be unable to have any Illusion spells.

Sorcerers usually take spells from their parantage. Bhaal was a chaotic god of murder. So... Which spells would most likely fit into the BG SoA sorcerer's spellbook? Well, nothing lawful. So Invocation, Conjuration, Divination, and Abjuration type spells would be most unlikely. Not impossible, just unlikely, as these schools all demand strict order, dicipline, and careful methodical study. Alteration, Enchantment, Illusion, and Necromancy would be the Bhaalspawn sorcerer's bread and butter. Chaos sown in his passing. One could build a workable sorcerer based on those four schools alone, or at least I think so. Or, the other side of the coin could be true. Something deep inside him could fight and stuggle against the influence of his blood, and, he could be a very lawful orderly sort of person and his spell selection could reflect that.

I have often thought about making a sorcerer and giving him a themed set of spells. I am still undecided about how to go about doing it though from a role playing based foundation.

Actually, Butterfingers, IIRC, Bhaal himself was Lawful Evil. I agree with Necromancy and Illusion fitting in very well with the concept of Bhaal-essence Sorcerer, but the Priest spells must be included as well--specifically things like Unholy Word, Harm, and Slay Living. (Assassination would also be nice, if you weren't stuck with just 1 ApR.)
