A little spoiler!!
. . . . . . . . . . You can use the spell sanctuary (they just stand and look at you) if you don't want to fight the golems. However, they give some nice EP. |
I used sanctuary too but then had second thoughts about the cheese factor!

I used an oil of speed on my thief. Then stole the Items from all three statues. Click Pause click pause. Cheesy poofs abound. then I ran like Hell. Two of the Golems followed me down stairs,One was Clay. But defeated them then made the Flail. I like cheesey poofs sometimes....

However, if you're interested in the Fire Head alone, don't worry about the Golems. They only come to life if you steal any of the weapons. |
if you went through the first dungeon, and freed the djin, and took the extra passage inside the plain of air, you would have found (and hopefully wrote) Air-elemental. These are the best summons you can have against golems, their fists count as magical-blunt (either +3 or +4), and here' s the best part: bone golems (or whatever the undead golems in the Umar Hill's quest are called) cannot damage them. Perfect tanks. Earth Elementals (if you summon the 18 HD kind) are like big iron golems themselves. I typically use some form of elemental on golems, which is why i do the De'arnise hold a bit later, so that i have 1 or 2 spells at lvl 6 for my elementals.

Ehm, check this out peeps. In the room were the oven for the flail-making is, there is also a ring of earth control. Use Charm earth control (may take a few tries) on the Iron Golem and have him beat up the other golems. Then you only need to take care of the Iron Golem and you can get a few free hits because hes charmed !!
Also a bit cheesy so its your choice... |
