How on earth did you defeat the sword?

Tactics isn`t *only* the stuff that used to be in Sola. The Ritual and Improved Ilynch used to be their own mods, for example.

Use Magic Missile, Skull Trap or Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting.

I tried again and here is how I did-
First I go after the dragon-breach him, Solafein uses a time stop scroll, and then he GWW and the big tough mean dragon falls.
Then I cast time stop with Imoen and she hits the sword with 2 ADHW and a magic missile and he's toast.
My main character breaches the orb and Valygar GWW and beats him quickly.
Meanwhile the wraith goes after the first character he sees so I haste Jaheira and have her run around while he chases until I'm done with everyone else. Wow she is good for something.
I gang up on Jon while Jaheira's running for her life. My Planeter casts earthquakes and insect plagues and he's not too tough to finish off.
Then everyone goes after the wraith.
Easy as pie, so far.
Next my equipment gets stripped and I run and get it with my wizard slayer/mage and pick up my flail of ages and sanchuudoku. Jon's Slayer form gets sliced and diced. Okay who else wants some.
Jon the III's asking for a piece but this time he admits that I'm the bomb and he might not beat me.
I summon another Planeter and cast misleads and simicrums and try to attack him physically. That doesn't work. I can't target him with spells because he's invisible I cast true sights and oracles and that didn't work. Remove magic. I don't think that worked. I cast an earthquake with the planeter and that renderred him unconcious so he wasn't buffing himself up constantly then I hit him with a couple of insect plagues and his defenses came down so I could breach and attack. He gets up and DD's all over the place and the insect Plagues wear off but I'm still after him when all of the sudden my main character poofs into the rising ghost thing. Dead. What the...
I don't even know what Jon did I assume it was a finger of death or something like that but I didn't have time to see. Time to try again.
BTW sorry if this is a little long winded but this is a great battle and I don't mind doing it over and over again because it is so awesome. Thanks to weimer.

The "Earthquake" strategy is very nice. I haven't heard of anyone else using it.

The Final Irenicus has a roughly 1 in 18 chance of casting Finger of Death.

I hate "instant death" spells as much as the next guy and I especially hate the Infinity Engine bug that prevents you from reading the message text after you die (so you can't figure out what went wrong).

Most people seem to take 3 or 4 fights before they master the first two stages, and then a couple more fights where the first two stages work like clockwork and they try things out against the final form. I have no doubt that you'll be crowing your victory shortly.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements.

Is there a way to do it with out a magic user?

The Improved Irenicus mod was specifically designed with a "well-balanced party" in mind. It may well be that some particular part (e.g., the Sword of Greed) is a dramatic challenge if you have an unbalanced party.

IIRC, Sanchu can kill Mordies (yes, it's too strong), so if you drop it before the big fight you can use it to take down Greed.

Who or what is Sanchu?

Who or what is Sanchu?
That's the Katana you get from defeating the kensai/wu jen when she comes looking for Celestial Fury. (Tactics) Very good sword.
