Oh, well thanks for the help, I think I sold that ring a while ago, But then again I'll just use a friend scroll then since Jaheira got 14 CHA already =)

Jaheira? Are you sure she can cast an arcane spell?

I went and DL that patch for the bonus cd items, and all I can say is WOW! I had no idea the Robe was so insanely powerful!

Robe of Vecna + Amulet of power = most spells take no time at all to cast, and all spells are reduced to at least less than half the time.

Take a Time-stop + Improved alacrity and set the game-options to Auto-pause immediatly after a spell is cast. If you start from 1st lvl and work your way up to 9th lvl, you'll probably be able to cast 80-90% of all your spells in one Time-stop. A high enough lvl sorcerer cant make it in one Time-stop, but has time to spare if he casts two :D

EDIT: *mumbles about it being late, having his contacts out and the keyboard looking fuzzy .. stupid spelling*

The Robe of Vecna goes well with Sorcerers indeed...

However, if you play (or have in your party) some kind of a Fighter/Mage, consdier giving it to him.
Your mage can stand in the back, usually un-interrupted, so casting spells slowly will not be so dangerous to him. He also can't do anything substantial with the remaining time of the that round.
Your F/M, on the other hand, can also cast spells really quickly with the Robe - lowering the chances of being interrupted dramatically, and he can actually do something in the rest of the round - like bashing heads with his favorite weapon.

Exploiting the Cast&Attack tactic makes Fighter/Mages shine. Really.

If you don't know what Cast&Attack is, consider the link in the bottom of this post. Check the General Spell Info section. ;)

Yup, cast and attack works really well with Swashbuckler/Mages too. They are basicly fighter/mage with the essential thieving skills added in. Since you can't wear armor and use spells at the same time anyway, the Swashbuckler's natural armor bonus really shines. The drawback is they lose some points off the maximum THACO, but they get hit a lot less often.

You can often get in two swings at the melee enemy in front of you, and release a Magic Missle at an archer or mage across the screen in a single round, or cast a Stone Skin if your guy just got hit.

The robe sounds great but the Baldurdash site says not to install the Bonus Merchant file if ToB is installed. Has anyone gotten the Bonus Merchants to work with ToB?

The bonus merchant files can be safely installed on top of ToB. It just add 2 small files to your override folder that contains the definitions of the merchants. No other stuff is added, nor are existing files modified.

Doesn't the ToB Baldurdash fixpack add the Bonus Merchants fix in?
