Hmm... I did try one similar to what manikus suggested - but it looked too contrasty or something... Ah well, maybe I will fiddle with the palettes again later... :( (I don't want to reshade it, though, arrrgh...)

So now my secrets are revealed - just for you guys! :D

I did check this out before, but I didn't see the discussion on the gold dragon. I'm impressed again! But I think I understand a little more about how you do the work in MS-Paint. I had played around with this and the changing out colors with the transparent pasting ability. Now I've figured out a way to "fake" shade, as well. Take a picture and resize it to 200% size change background color to the desired color to mix with your pre-shaded color (usually for me thats black), resize it back down and viola'! the outer edge has a "mix" of the color of the background and the pre-shaded color.

PS, I'm gonna post up some pics here soon

Sounds great, looking forward to seeing some pictures from you as well (not to mention, it is a bit hard to understand your new technique just from words...).

But yeah, MS Paint is kind of fun, in a weird, cheap way, isn't it? :D

Fun? ;)

I can't wait to see some more examples of MS Paint fun (and of course the new technique from ST).

An example is the shading on the frame tricks post, in the cow/minotaur head. Its almost easier to shade by hand, tho.

Ha ha... I am at my in-laws' right now, and my wife accidentally deleted MS Paint from their PC... Aaarrrgh... (The one best feature of MS Paint is that everyone has it... or so I had hoped...)

Well... I am finally back from my in-laws' and will get back to the normal routine (of making icons and stuff :D ). To start, I've added an imp, a fire toad, and a crocodile (my favorite)...

Nice work, as always. :) I've never done battle with a firetoad...looks more formidable than it sounds. :D:D:D

Fire toads are good for DC, I think, since they attack via little fireballs (as missiles using THAC0). Basically, they seem more or less doable using the current engine :D (Of course, not everything is doable - their automatic fleeing from water-based attacks, for example, but we can't have everything...)

Added a nice, big icon this time... a woolly mammoth! :D Also, fixed up the Xag-Ya (forgot to make its eyes golden) and gave the Frost a shadow (a total of 9 pixels!).
