Calaethis Dragonsbane 02-02-2003 05:45 PM

Calaethis closed his eyes and shook his head. Tagnik, who had be silent, spoke in the depts of his mind, << Give her time, she is still very dissapointed with you; she should get over it. Dispair not, I am always with you, and has your Goddess not just favoured you with a visit? >> Calaethis thought back, with a hint of a smile, Yes, favoured with a slap to the face and a scolding. I deserved it though. The sword chuckled in his mind, << yes, you did rather. But I shall not rub it in any further - but the fact that She intervined at all - you should be honoured. >> Calaethis smiled inwardly again and replied, I am. Again She's saved me... he sighed, and looked up at Alliene.

"Alliene, please, enough. Would you lose me as well? Has there not been enough pain already, please; forgive me - just let it go I beg you." he stopped and waited for her reply, expecting a harsh rebuke, it was no less then he deserved in his own eyes.

*edit, another damn typo - why is it ONE word can throw the entire post out of context? bleh...*

Alliene stopped walking and eyed her cousin doubtfuly,
"Enough pain?" she turned on him and crossed her arms, staring up at him with cutting eyes, "I have had more pain brought upon me in the last few weeks than most people sustain in a life time, and your...your foolish actions have only reminded me how impetuous you really are. My sister drained herself to revive Kaltia and you storm off for no good reason at all! And threatened a dragon! What foolish notions have imbedded themselves in your head, child! It's unacceptable. More than that. You would be on the ground with my swords at your throat if your goddess did not decide your actions called for her personal attention! If some thing like this ever happens again, I will send you back to your mother. Do I make myself clear? Or do you need further explanations?" her hand gripped Nizzre and her cheek quirked in irritation.

Calaethis Dragonsbane 02-02-2003 06:15 PM

Calaethis endured his cousin's rebuke, to a point. Softly he spoke, "Alliene; you can try to send me home to mother. I do not wish to defy you further, but, if it comes to that, I will not go. I refuse to return home as a disgraced child. I... will not return anyway for some time yet..." he stopped. "Had She not intervined; I'd be lying on the ground dead, cousin. I was ready to fight you to the death, even knowing you'd win. I was a monster." His eyes filled with moisture, but no tears feel. "I was ready to kill you - or die trying. I was ready to attack that Wyrm... gods, I don't know what came over me..." he became silent, and waited for his cousin's reply.

Lady Blue03 02-02-2003 06:22 PM

"Perhaps it would have been better to teach you that lesson," Alliene spat acidly, her whole body going stiff in her natural way when she was threatened, "Now, I will not tolerate any more of this. When we return i expect you to apologize to the silver, thank Verloren, and greet Kaltia properly. This isn't about you after all, it's about her," snorting, she turned away from him and contined walking, refusing to say anymore.

"You expect?" he muttered, and his cheek began to sting again, "Very well" his cheek stopped stinging, and he thought Oh great, now my every action is being monitered.. typical Suddenly he staggered in front of his cousin, his cheek flaring white, the force of the 'non-apparent' blow throwing him to the ground. Frantically, he thought back Forgive me, I'm sorry, please Mother? Only a cold silence met his request, but his cheek stopped stinging quite as hard. He rolled to his feet, and bowed respectfully to Alliene. "As you command cousin." was all he said

~That boy is so wayward his bloody goddess has to make sure he behaves. Perhaps that will batter down his newly aquired arrogance and teach him some respect~ Alliene thought fiercley, picking up the pace. Everyone eyed her uneasily as she stalked back into their little clearing. Withuot a pause, Alliene approached Darlantan,
"I believe my cousin has something he would like to say to you, great one. You too, sister, and you Kaltia,"
Zachana shifted her feet as she watched her lady and held onto Shadow's coat arm. Everything had happened so fast. If Calaethis had actually started attacking Darlantan...well, no person attacks a dragon with other of his kin around. Her eyes hardened when she saw Calaethis, and noticed Avalon's muscles tense as well. He had made a grave mistake, but it seemed her lady had him back underfoot.

Calaethis made a face inwardly, and thought, Mother, do I really have to do this? Tagnik spoke up, talking to Calaethis mentally, << do you really want an answer to that Calaethis? Your only likely to get yourself into more trouble you know. >> Calaethis sighed mentally, no, I guess not. I didn't expect an answer anyway... I'm only delaying the inevitable.. He switched off. Formally he intoned, "Forgive me Anicent One, I spoke in haste and in anger, please accept my most sincere appologies - it will not happen again." He addressed Verloren. "Your Majesty" he bowed deeply to her, "My thanks for reviving the half-drow." his tone was formal, even cold as it had been for the Ancient Wrym. He addressed Kaltia, though cleaned teeth, his gut twisted as he said "It... is good to see you again my lady. I trust you are well? Forgive my earlier outburst..." is that bloo- good enough Mother? he thought back. It probably wasn't, and his chosen diety replied in his head, << you push your luck and go too far, then beg for My forgiveness and mercy. Why Calaethis? You call me 'Mother' out of respect, and you expect Me to treat you as a child. You even expect Me to slap you, and you almost want it. I know your mind little one, and I shall let this slip for now. But I am not at your beck and call, and I am not as a mortal mother to you. However much you may wish it. >> Her voice paused, << and yet, you still look up to Me as you would a mortal mother. You even love Me as one. You... are different from others who follow Me. You... it does not matter. I may indulge some of your whims, but do not expect My patience to be infine, even though you see Me as a perfect parent. I will not allow you to become spoiled My child, and make no mistake, you are Mine. And you are a child. Still, you are good at heart. Be well, until we next meet little one. Do not forget that dispite everything that has happened, you do still have My love. Farewell, Calaethis. >> then Her voice, aura and presence were gone, leaving a confused Calaethis thinking deeply. None, not even the dragons could hear what had just gone on in his head

Verloren inclined her head but cast a questioning glance at Alliene, who mouthed "I'll explain later" with a shake of her head. Alliene could remember when he had fought her over letting Kaltia stay with the party. Why was he being so indifferent to her now? And calling her half-drow? She kept herself close to Kaltia in case the woman decided his tone was enough to come to blows. Her cheek started quirking again and she frowned; she hoped that wasn't some new habit that had somehow attatched itself to her.

Sylquis looked at Calaethis, and still clung to Tyra. His appology looked forced at best, and his tone was so cold! She glanced up at her sister, who replied in a soft voice to Skye, "We'll be fine, thank you for your concern though..." Her eyes were still slightly wild though.

Calaethis shot the pair a glanced, and his eyes softened. Damn, but he'd meant to ask Her if he'd done the right thing in rescuing them. He didn't want to disturb Her again though. He looked at Alliene, his eyes questioning. Surely they'd wasted enough time already?

Skydracgrrl 02-02-2003 07:38 PM

Skye nodded at them, and went back to Damion and Khalraan. Sparing a glance at Cal, she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck rise slightly. 'I still do not like whom he has recently become,' she thought silently to herself, shrugging the ominous feeling off.
