Ross you are making yourself the hitler of Xvart's should the Senate declare them a sentient civilized people, you will find yourself in a heap of trouble. They speak common, they exist in organized colonies, and they can be made peace with. One may have to cast the spell friends to successfully initiate dialogues, but it would likely become a cakewalk thereafter.

In no way is this comparable to the way many Calimshade visitors and immigrants are subjected to crude remarks and bias.

* It has been noticed the kobolds resemble a cross between dogs, rats, lizards and, from their occasional attempts at speech and bipedal walk, parrots. If not an animal, they are demons (as they have already been classified by some), or merely animals possessed by daemons*'.

*' Why any daemon would possess a kobold-animal is beyond our experts' wildest guesses.

I disagree with you. Kobolds are not civilized compared to us yes. Just as we were not civilized when we did not know magic and used crudely made weapons to defend ourselves. And at the time when we have lived in caves and the older races such as elves and dwarves considred us barbaric. Kobolds are in the first phase that we were in millions ago. I do not consider beings that are less advanced than us as animals.

The do not attempt speech, they do it. We cannot understand a word what these beings are saying without magic. They are not animals nor demons either. The lowest class of a demon is an imp. Imps have a natrual ability to turn invisible and are known for their poisonus stings. Imps are more verstile than a kobold. AND if kobolds were possesed by demons the race would be more powerful. Demons are very intellgent creatures that rival and exceed our human intellgence.

And I have heard that this issue is slowly turning to face Xvarts. I will do my best to protect their natrual rights just as I do with kobolds.

To my esteemed colleague Sythe.

Allow me to begin by pointing out the current viewpoint on kobolds in not necessarily shared by any individual member of the senate, including it's chair. It has come about in what we believe to be a democratic manner, with the opinions of the many overruling the concerns of a few. Indeed, this is the only fair approach.

Whilst there is a possiblity of your arguments having merit, a ruling has already been made at an earlier date. Senate policy has, as such, adapted to the point of view as was expressed by yours truely, several posts up the line.

I am myself not interested in a further discussion to alter this decision, however, as any other member of the Senate you are free to reserve a place on the agenda, to present your case. If sufficient support can be mustered, I shall call for another voting where perhaps our classification of kobolds amongst the realm of the uncivilised may be amended.

Until such time as the subject appears on the agenda, I would ask that you restrict any further words regarding this matter to areas and actions outside the discussion hall. On behalf of the Senate I thank you for your understanding.

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-26-2003 01:19 PM

what about the xvarts?

Firestormalpha 10-26-2003 01:59 PM

Legolas, in view of recent discussion the Senate, it seems, must convene on the topic of Xvart's. Are they civilized people, or merely blue humanoid beasts? I consider them a civilized people myself, but I will stand with the decision of the Senate.

*sigh* I understand I aplogize for bringing this already decided topic again. I shall rest my case of giving kobolds thier rights and such. Until as you said I have more support. But we are now talking about Xvarts aren't we? Shall there be a new thread? We have eight pages worth of discussion of kobold meals and such. It would not be appropiate if we are talking about Xvarts in a thread titled "Love the kobold, hate the kobold, eat the kobold, make up your mind...."

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-26-2003 02:52 PM

we can only do that if the senate gives permission, so senate, are you going to give the go ahead for a xvart discussion?

Dragonshadow 10-28-2003 05:49 AM

*sighs and shakes head* I can see it now. In two weeks, it'll be: Love the Xvart, hate the Xvart, make the Xvart into crisps, chips, burgers and other things, make up your mind ...
Personally, I think that (and I'm sorry to say this is about kobolds as a civilized race) they are like us. We are "civilized" in some ways, and yet in others, we are little better than... something very uncivilized. To say barbarians would simply be unfair. Kobolds: they have a language, god, and villages. In my book, this makes them civilized.
I know that I have said in perivious posts that I hate kobolds and want them dead. I'm sorry to say Sythe, that this is still true. I hate the sqeaky, yappy little..... But they are civilized. They need to be killed to keep the population down, otherwise they could become like humans: thinking that they rule the earth, and overpopulate and pioson our planet.
*sighs again* But I know that in a minute I'll loose the plot and go over old ground. I mearly ask that we DO: say kobolds are civilized and should recive a formal appology after they are dead, and DON'T: eat them.

Now: Firestormalpha, when do you want those flamethrowers delivered?
