Good on ya, Yorick - it's very refreshing to see that maybe something good can come out of all this, and it's good to see people actually putting their money where their mouth is.
It might be a good idea to forward that email to Z as well - just to keep him informed. I'd be quite curious to hear their reply to this - I imagine a petition would be the next step if this proved unsuccessful? [ 07-08-2002, 11:13 PM: Message edited by: Memnoch ] |
yeah, if they don't reply we sent petition. if they still don't care we will all boycott all bioware games. ;)

i have sent a reply to the creators of "medal of honor", "return to castle wolfenstein", "grand theft auto",and many other main line titles to completely remove or be petitioned cause the content of each of the games have racist and or stereotyped events going on and that i am majorly offended by it. it took me several hours to do such but i am PROUD to say that if this does go thru many of the best games in the world should all go down the tubes to better suit us anti racist types out there. i cant believe all those racist developers have the nerve to create such horrid and uncareless GAMES. maybe soon i can enjoy playing tellitubbies online with you all, as soon as they politically correct the purple tellitubbi first.i am with you on this one yorick lets bring down the gamers society of the world. after we have brought lightened down the gaming industry lets go for the movies, then books, then tv. all mature and responsible people should not be subjected to this kind of BS that is being spread amongst us like a plague.

and i will not apologize to avid gamers out there because i feel what i am doing is for the good. i stood up and put my mouth were my money is. i finally did something about this topic and i feel proud.instead of talking i did.

theifprowess, you're acting like a child. I remember an earlier post where you realized that your side of the discussion had no backing and you suggested that we close this topic... *sighs and shakes head*
Just let it go. I hate to sound rude on this great forum, but you're just causing trouble and nobody wants to hear it. Yorick is trying to make a difference for someone and you're giving him a hard time about it. Why? You lost a lot of respect from me, and probably more people on this forum, by mocking his efforts to help others. |
you sound as if i am joking around.im not i did reply to all those game makers. the difference is i know by sending them a message it isnt going to do anything, or change anything. i can bitch, whine and complain all i want to the creators and i know it wont do anything. a lawsuit wont ever happen, i know that. i just simply put that instead of talking and whining about certain issues i actually did it. i dont feel all that strongly about it but i did it.
i can petition the government to end the drug war and keep drugs of the street. i canpetition to keep violence of tv. i can petition to remove gang activity from the streets. the point i am making is you can make threats all you want it is not going to change a thing. final point in order. quit bitching about it and making a fuss cause more than likely its not going to change anything.i will post any and all replies that i get back from this, from the game developers if i get any to prove to you how much of a difference i made. |
Thiefprowess, your attitude is extremely disappointing. You're acting like a sore loser and a spoiled child, just because a discussion did not go your way. You have ENTIRELY missed my point. I am not supporting Yorick because I agree with him - I am supporting him because he is willing to back up what he said by getting off his ass and DOING something. Too many people in forums waffle on with grandiose proclamations about this, that and the other, or carry on about social justice, but don't actually do anything about it. To me, these people just use forums like this to boost their own egos. I don't have a lot of respect for those people - to me, if you feel strongly about an issue and are prepared to argue passionately about it, then get off your ass and do it.
Maybe my subtleties were lost on you - since Yorick was prepared to kick up a big stink and make a big fuss about this issue, I challenged him to get off his ass and do something about an issue that he has been arguing for on this thread, and to his credit he got off his ass and did something about it. That is why I respect him - not because I agree with him, but because he wasn't just arguing for the sake of arguing, he was prepared to back his words with action. If he had backed out of it and made some excuse to not do something after all he'd said about it, then I would have lost respect for him. You, on the other hand, are acting in a petulant way when really, what did you lose? How are you worse off because of what Yorick did? Your comment about not doing anything because it won't make a difference is what is called apathy - like voters who don't bother to vote because they don't think it will make a difference. Guess what - if enough people didn't do that they of course they won't make a difference. I hope that this is the last sign of negativity that I see from you on this thread, as I'm not going to continue arguing with you. If you don't think Yorick's thing will be successful, then why do you keep reading and replying to this topic? I'm sure there are plenty of other topics out there which are more interesting to you.
