Yeah, the DC engine really keeps the combat part right on. The problem I had way back in my Pnp Dnd days was that sometimes with combat it could drag with various combat rolls and different optional rules (with knockdown attempts from successful hits and critical hits, I kinda did something witht the proficiencies that allowed similar to feats in the 3rd edition, just not so powerful). Being so tuned to the combat, you have to make the game more than monty haul and hack-n-slash. The goldbox games did the hack-n-slash but they pulled off the story alright (not great, but good enuff to not be boring). The UANLs talked about how FRUA ppl wanted to see more than "walk 6 steps and fight the same 6 orcs" ;) and they talked about the desire to have complex encounter chains, and how to build them. I am amazed at the tricks they did with only 100 events in any area ;)

Hmm - the martial arts rules in Oriental Adventures were in effect something like "feats," but for 1e. :)

Also, some more new icons (today was, er, productive?): Xag-Ya, Xeg-Yi, bunch of wood elves and a recoloring of the sea elves (getting to work on the people template ;) )

I always thought Xag-Ya and Xeg-Yi were cool, but it may be hard to get them to blow each other up in DC...

We can have truly complex wandering monster chains in DC, especially with thoughtful placement and utilization of zones.

I just got home from school and to see that there are new icons, makes my Saturday good again. :D

Okay, I finally got to a point where I could check out the new icons...
They rock, as usual. ;)
I think we have plenty of icons to do an undersea adventure. Now, we just need to do the rest of the artwork. :D Or, we can just keep doing icons. I'll try and post some of my new creations soon.

Yeah, I keep slacking off and not doing walls/backgrounds/etc... just icons :( Arrrgh... As for an undersea adventure... I wonder if doing things like suffocation, airy water/devices spells to avoid suffocation, and back to suffocation if the duration runs out are doable in DC? (Safe areas with air might be nice, too, for resting.)

Also, the people templates are taking longer than I thought - this is supposed to save time! ;)

Looking forward to seeing your new stuff! :P

And... as usual, a few more icons. (I was planning to do some walls, but...) :(

Orca (killer whale) - I like this one! :D
Set of hags (night hag, sea hag, greenhag - basically recolors of each other ;) )
Sylph (basically a remash of some older icons, plus wings and dress)

We can do time check events in DC, so it should be easy to work out something. (Easy except for the actual scripting. :D:D:D )

More work at the beginning, but when you start to use it, the time saving will start to show. ;)

Very nice icons, as usual. I like all of them, but that orca is just outstanding.
:) Great work! :)

Re: New Icons!

Thanks, I like my orca a lot, too (don't like calling them "killer whales" for some reason). :)

Guess I need some walls/backgrounds to go with this undersea stuff now... :D
