One of the Techs nods, then leaves the Bridge. A few disquieting minutes later, the lights fail again. Only this time, the sparsely placed crimson emergency lights are activated straight away, indicating a structural problem with the main generator, the relays or both. The fact that the room is now cloaked in an eery red glow does little for your nerves. The Bridge-Computers are briefly de-activated as well, although they reboot when emergency power kicks in. |

Fingers, drumming on the armrest of a fancy chair. The rhythm, severe irritation.
Just a few more days. Or fewer. |

An uncomfortable silence has fallen over the Bridge. Most of the men are simply staring at their monitors, which are filled with seemingly endless amounts of data, all irrelevant to your current predicament. The Comm-Liason breaks the silence, and you spot several crewmembers briefly glaring in her direction. ,,Captain, I have the leader of the refugees on the Comm. She wishes to speak to you personally.'', she says. |

"Put her through to the blasted bridge then," growled the acting captain. "I expect something rich here."

Much to your surprise, the main screen is activated and you find yourself staring at a young woman with somewhat hawkish features and small eyes. Although you're positive that the Bridge-Cam is offline, the woman appears to be looking directly at you and a thin smile forms on her lips. Judging by the look on the face of the Comm-Liason, this transmission was meant to be set to audio-only. Apparently, the woman likes to make an impression. ,,Captain Messman. I do so regret you weren't here to meet us in person'', she says. Her voice booms through the speakers and echoes through the Bridge, and you find yourself wondering who is regulating the volume. The camera zooms out, and gives you an impression of the state the Launchbay is in. The floor is littered with motionless bodies and one of the walls is covered with scorch-marks. ,,Unfortunately, we were unable to repay your hospitality in kind. But if it's any kind of consolation: we payed for our intrusion with many lives, whereas most of your men are still very much in one piece. Now, whether or not they stay that way is up to you. Power will be restored in a few minutes, after which you'll plot a course for Wayfarer 6. Upon our arrival there, we will surrender to FedSec. Needless to say, if you make any attempt to retake Deck 4 by force, we'll start executing the very fine members of your crew. Any attempt at a delay, and we'll do the same.'' She smirks and her image begins to fade. ,,Have a nice day.. captain.'' A fraction of a second later, the screen turns black. |

Reckless and uncalled for, as far as he was concerned. But he was hardly in a fair mood to begin with, and happy thoughts were far away.
"Assume I don't care a whit about hostages," Ricor said to the Tac-Liaison. "What are our options?" |
