Just saw the movie Wednesday night while waiting for a red-eye flight. Gotta say... it felt like it was made just to plug the holes so that EpIV now made sense.
Things that struck me... no one knows about Anakin and Padme, yet they always seem to be together and very *affectionate*. No one can add 2 and 2 and get 4? Puh-lease...
Graphics/special effects.... very nice, but you can only do the "wow, that's big. No, THAT is big. NO, THAT is BIG" bit so many times. It felt like every so often, you had to have an outside scenery shot to show how big everything was.
And the combat scenes were impressive, but there was a whole lot of "lightsabers flashing all over" that detracted from the actual fight. I mean, I could see the lightsabers, but I couldn't see or follow the actors. Perhaps I'm getting old...
Of course, Obi-wan's lightsaber being picked up by the one clone he'd talk to later was kind of providential planning, I think
I also could have done without the scene with the younglings. It certainly showed that Anakin had gone over, but it felt gratuitous. That scene alone would prevent me from bringing a child to see this movie.
I haven't seen EpI or EpII, so I can't compare them. This one doesn't do justice to my distant memories of EpIV-VI.
However, it was a pleasant way to while away the time waiting for my flight to leave, so it was good for me.
