I'd much rather see a KOTOR movie then NJO crap.

Thoran 06-13-2005 06:39 PM

I guess I'd have to agree Sir Degrader... Lucas has created another inviting universe with KOTOR, with some cinematic possibilities that the SW era doesn't have. The Jedi and Sith at the height of their powers, with force powers bordering on magical. Hell a KOTOR movie would ALMOST be Fantasy as opposed to Sci-Fi. He's also got some interesting planets that have been settings for the two games... and some COOL bad guys.

My only hope would be that he doesn't write A SINGLE WORD of the script.

...or touch the directing. Or go anywhere near the project.

Sir Goulum 06-13-2005 07:27 PM

Well.. he could have a hand in guiding it, but nothing in a major position.

I've heard that Kevin Smith has been tapped to direct the Star Wars tv series. If so we can expect crappy action sequences, but a whole hell of a lot of respect paid to the star wars universe, and some great dialog/stories.

And!

Mace Windu saying 'DIE mother******' :D

Edited for Swearing.

Hey, they really did a number on the OT, hell, KOTOR1-2 had better acting!

Just saw the movie Wednesday night while waiting for a red-eye flight. Gotta say... it felt like it was made just to plug the holes so that EpIV now made sense.

Things that struck me... no one knows about Anakin and Padme, yet they always seem to be together and very *affectionate*. No one can add 2 and 2 and get 4? Puh-lease...

Graphics/special effects.... very nice, but you can only do the "wow, that's big. No, THAT is big. NO, THAT is BIG" bit so many times. It felt like every so often, you had to have an outside scenery shot to show how big everything was.

And the combat scenes were impressive, but there was a whole lot of "lightsabers flashing all over" that detracted from the actual fight. I mean, I could see the lightsabers, but I couldn't see or follow the actors. Perhaps I'm getting old...

Of course, Obi-wan's lightsaber being picked up by the one clone he'd talk to later was kind of providential planning, I think

I also could have done without the scene with the younglings. It certainly showed that Anakin had gone over, but it felt gratuitous. That scene alone would prevent me from bringing a child to see this movie.

I haven't seen EpI or EpII, so I can't compare them. This one doesn't do justice to my distant memories of EpIV-VI.

However, it was a pleasant way to while away the time waiting for my flight to leave, so it was good for me.

Watch Ep. 1 and Ep. 2. It'll make it look sooooo much better.
