I have the guards with me but they still pummel us. The level difference is literally "killing" me. Should I just ignore it for now? Or should I be well able for it with the help from the guards? If so, I will retry it with a new strategy but mainly I was just checking to see.

You can abandon the gain Olias Quest until you level up a bit more OR Pm me ingame (Whirlwind Axehand) & I can help you get him so at least you have 1 hero to level up with. We could also take a quick trip to Elona (if you have nightfall) to grab your other heroes (they start at level 15) so you can use them instead of henchies for the Prophecies campain (will make it a bit easier)

Dam!! turned everything off, made sure nothing else was running and it still shut down after a few mins. I'm going off to buy that desk fan now. Hopefully that will work.

OK, this was a bit odd, I’ve not done anything about the ‘shutting down’ problem yet, but had a few free mins the other day. So I started a new class, and did the beginners mission thing, and left the computer running it for quite a while, I then got to the monastery, and left the machine on for a bit. It was when I left the monastery to find someone that the machine shut down after a few mins. How can this area keep causing my machine to shut down? It was this area that I had all the problems with the other class.

Hmmm... I had a similar program a year fews ago, with Ultima IX. Game worked perfectly except for ONE SINGLE THING that would cause my computer to lock up and need a manual reboot. Reinstalls didn't help, starting a new game didn't help, nothing seemed to help until I got a new video card and power supply.

There may be some sort of hardware incompatability, perhaps it would be worth contacting GW support and asking if your video card is incompatible. If there's no issue there, I'd suggest going ahead with a PSU upgrade.

I guess its the graphics card pulling more power or something. Dam, I can't afford to get a new PSU for a while. Shame means I might have to put off playing this for a bit. :(

Sorry to hear it, Target. But hey, I've already logged over a month full of 24-hour days of playtime, I doubt I'll be tired of the game by the time you get into it. Let me know when you manage to get it to run well, and I'll be sure to drop by in-game and see how you're doing.

Well it could be your PSU but it would have to be defective or dying or something. A 450w PSU would easily manage that card and anything GW throws at it. I ran GW with a 250w PSU back in the day, on my old ti4600. So yes it could be an issue but understand, only if it is "broken". All your stats check out as being able to play the game. I would personally start looking at my vidcard first. Especially since you can isolate the problem when entering certain areas. The land around Shing Jea is alot more taxing graphics-wise than the monastery itself because of all the stuff in the distance (like the castle-thingy). Are you certain your ATI drivers are up to date (the catalyst drivers etc.?).

Target 01-12-2007 06:21 AM

oh dear, :( I'll check those driver again. (will XP find the latest ones when I install that?)

As I can't play at the mo, I just want to know, what is everyones favourite class to play?
