Kestrel - your link doesn't work for everyone and I keep getting a pop-up window asking me to connect to the kirith website - which I really have no desire to do. Could you put the pic on another site? I have a ranchoweb account and I'll be happy to "host" the pic for you if you email it to me (or send it in a PM). Then I'll send the new link back to you. Only if you want to of course. ;) I can always just keep clicking the X on the pop-up.

Edited to remove broken web link.

Cerek, be a dear and edit the broken link out of your quote? We know it's there, and now it's bringing that irritating thing to this page of the thread as well.

Kestrel Daystar 01-23-2005 05:10 PM

There, I fixed it. If you wanna edit your post Cerek then it will show up properly.

Sorry about that

Perosnally, if we're going for a more "realistic" look in animation, then I wouldn't go with X-Men or Spiderman of the early 90's. As much as I like those two toons I wouldn't describe them as realistic. Everyone was exaggerated buff (for men) or voluptuous (for women) in those.

Also, as someone pointed out (other than me), there are anime out there without the exaggerated expressions. However, I think in a series where parts of the story get downright silly maybe exagerated expresions would work. For instance, when Edwin is being mocked for turning into a woman, I can't help but imagine a throbbing forehead vein.

Viconia - Natasha Henstridge (painted blue, not a bad look-alike)
No. Despite what the portrait looks like, blue is just wrong. A drow is not "an elf with blue skin", but "a dark elf": hence Halley Berry. It might even be argued that she isn't dark enough for the role, since alot of sources describe drow as having pitch black skin with white hair. Either way, drow aren't blue.

I'm not limiting myself to a black actress for Viconia. Even if we got a black woman she'd need her skin dyed. A drow's skin is black, not dark brown. Ebon.

Ooooooops! Sorry about that.

I thought that the link in the quote would work in MY post once Kestrel fixed it in HIS post...and I had no idea the software would automatically attempt to establish a url link when I typed the "www" dot website name. I deliberately did NOT add the "com" part in order to prevent that, but I guess the software tried to establish the link anyway.

I edited my post so it should be fixed now.

This remind me of the anime "Slayers".
