I think their Dark-skins were a punishment from the gods, after they've lost the war against the other Elven races. As for females.. they're just an evil subrace of humanity ;) </font>
IIRC, the Drow once dwelt in the jungle and a hot climate, hence their dark skins. Of course, when they made war on their kin and were forced underground, the dark skin remained... </font>
Going back in the day to good old First Edition AD&D ( I will do some digging and see if I can find the exact reference ) the drow were like the other elven races. There were slight differences like the other races, Valley Elves, Grey Elves, Wood Elves, ect. It was during a huge Elven war that the Drow were driven underground, and that the radiation from the being so deep underground is what turned their skin black. It was also this radiation in the ore of the DeepEarth that allowed them to forge such dangerous magical items.

Once again I dnt know the exact reference to this information.. I will dig into my books and see if I can come up woth a title and page number. But since First Edition the Drow and their history have greatly evolved. They began becoming very popular as player characters and evil nemisises and encounters in the late 80s and early 90s... My user name here.. Teri-sha Illistyn as my first Drow Elf character made in 1989.

IIRC, Driders are drow who where transformed into half-spider/half-drow creatures by LLoth as punishment.

Yes Atty. :D

Concerning Drider? The lower half is that of a spider's body whilst the torso and upper half are elven - well, drow.
