i agree with you there Alex... people should think before 'complimenting'... i shudder to think that a 14-year-old boy (me) has better tastes than quite a few of the posters here... but then again i have different circumstances than them ;) . but its no more acceptable for them to do it than it is me...

Well said Arledrian. I'm going to go one step further here and say that in the absence of the mods who are officially on this board, I am asking as a mod of IW that from now on, if you haven't got a respectful comment to make on this thread, you just don't post. I'm really disappointed to see this lovely CELEBRATION thread for Lioness posting a photo be been turned into a controversy match by some with little or no taste.
So, if it's a respectful comment, make it, if not.. don't hit the send key on this thread! Cloudbringer |

I'm guessing that 'Loiness' is sick of being every thirteen year old's fantasy around here. Why is it some people seem to think that these kind of remarks are flattering? For those of you that do, let me set you straight. There is a way of respectfully stating how attractive you find someone, and there is the vulgar, out-of-taste way of saying it. People in general do not like to be wolf whistled at, even if it is in jest. What they do appreciate is a sincere compliment, one that shows thoughtfulness and consideration, not some crude remark that makes ones skin crawl. Posts like the above make me cringe. I find it terrible that some people are not brought up to treat a woman (or indeed anyone else) with respect. This kind of thing should be instilled in the home from a young age, in my view. Treat people how you yourself would like to be treated. I doubt anyone would like to asked where they dropped their angel wings - so why say it in the first place? Lioness is a very attractive young woman, and one that certainly does not deserve to be mistreated. So I urge anyone else posting here to think twice before they say anything potentially demeaning. Sorry to go on like this, but this sort of thing truly gets on my nerves.

I dont mean to b flaming u or nething Arledrian but down here where I live girls my age (14) really love those sorts of things 2 b saud to them.... i mean really love them.... so Shadowhound probably did mean it as quite a sincere compliment... in other words if Im not mistaken he was saying that Lioness was an angel.... sry again if u think Im flaming u |

I'm giving people one last chance to behave here - this was meant to be about Lioness putting her photo up at Stealthy's Site, NOT for people to argue about different standards for giving compliments. When in doubt (and when you don't know the person very well) go the safe route and be POLITE, not sleazy. Sexual innuendo is usually not polite, irrespective of whether or not the person finds it offensive. Behave please. ;) |
well _I_ for one will give this another try and try to get this thread back on the right track...
Lioness, i thought that was a very good picture, and look forward to seeing more as well as finally meeting you in person (it can and will happen, i swear it!). |
The photo there is definately of one of the best looking girls i have seen. I am now, for the first time in my life, regretful that I will probably never meet anyone here in person. If it was at all possible, I would be trying my hardest to meet at least Lioness in person. I am sure that noone with such a lovely photo could have anything but a kind, selfless personality.

To give a hint, it´s not a compliment you know... |

Actually I have seen many pictures of beautiful people in the album already. None of them however was received quite so... enthusiastically. Arledrian, that was a VERY wellwritten post, my hat's off to you! Although I cannot speak for Lioness I do know that I would have felt at least slightly uncomfortable under all these posts. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Lioness never struck me as the sort of girl that thrives on praise and flattery, so I don't see why all of this was necessary. I was glad that at least some people were polite and sincere in their compliments to her, because some of the others, while certainly not as crude as Istaron's comment, were definitely equally uncalled for. IMHO of course. Anyway, to go back to the original purpose of this thread: glad to finally put a face to your name, Lioness, it was great to see what you really look like! I hope that still more people will follow. |
