Grrr... I Just tried to post something but the pword was wrong so I lost what I had typed http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif

Anyways.....I reinstalled W&W + my old saves + TownAVIfix after not playing for a long long time.

I still have the typical green dungeon & bad looking HUD/fonts/display in D3D 1024 mode.

I take it nobody has found a solution for these 2 problems?

Im running Win2k +sp1 +sp2, directX 8 (forced to use), Hercules GeforceMX with latest Herc drivers 12.40

I have a problem with the full install. After finishing installing CD2, the installer asks for CD1 to be put in. When this is done, however, the box asking for CD1 won't go away, no matter how manytimes OK is pressed. The minium install works fine, but there are problems like stuttering movies, so a full install would be nice. Is there any solution?

My specs:

P2 233
128MB ram
Voodoo2
4MB ATI AGP card (very old)
Win 95
Old 16x CD-ROM drive

This is the first time I've had any problem with an install. I'd tried the full install about 5 times, and the same thing happened. After each install, in which almost all the game seemed to of being installed (going on the size of the directory), the unwise.exe in the directory could remove it.

I've already warned you that I'm no techie wizard - http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Are you running the game in software mode?
What version of DirectX are you running?
Have you upgraded the drivers?

Have you checked your memory to see that it is good?
Any chance you might upgrade your memory?
or upgrade your machine? ( http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif )

Now, will someone who does have some idea what they are talking about kindly help this poster???

I've had similar problems in the past but mine was because it took sooooo long for my CD drive to get up to speed. It would stop every so often and I'd have to wait for it to reach optimal speed then hit the okay button. You've probably already tried something like this but thought I'd add it in case.

The other problem I had was when the CD got up to speed it would autoplay the installer on the disk that just started so I'd have to ALT+TAB to jump to the correct installer and finish it then cancel the second one that started.

Just some ideas to try. Good luck.

The CD does do something when I put it in. It sounds like it speeds up, then the harddrive light comes on, and this goes on for a little while, then it stops. I tried pressing OK randomly throughout this time period, but I had no pattern to pressing OK, so maybe I'm not pressing it at the right time. If a second autoplay is running, ALT+TAB doesn't show it, and I can't minimise the installer to look.

Greetings, Gdawg49 !!

You have probably considered these points already, but just in case ...

What is your hard drive like?
Have you tried a scandisc and defragment - if you have had several failed installs there may be some file errors that need removing ..
Do you have enough space for a full install?
( You will need enough space for Windows swap file as well )

Pangur.

I have two hard disks. The hard disk I'm trying to install to is a recent 20GB drive, a Fujitsu model with 4GB spare on the partition I'm trying to install to. Does W&W have issues with partitions?

The scandisk which is run when Windows doesn't shut down properly has ended up being run several times recently, and it has not found any problems on that partition of the hard disk.

Just thought I'd let you guys know I got rid of my Voodoo 5 for a GeForce 2 Ultra 64MB DDR and now the game runs pretty flawless. The evil interface graphics don't look muddy and pixellated even in 1024x768!

Now my only problem is...it's been three freakin' months since I played the game last and I have no clue where I left off. Oh well...guess I'll just have to start a new party up. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

A little more on the Geforce issue,I am running the following:
Asus A7V 133A(266 Mhz FSB)
384 megs Infineon Ram
T-bird 1.1Ghz
SB live
20 Gig ATA100 Seagate
Winfast Geforce Ultra 64
Using DirectX8a I have no problem running at 1024x768 with all settings on high.
I am using the latest drivers from Nvidia (not Leadtek). The game looks great
and I have encountered no problems either with crashing or lock-ups.
