The stairs
will take you down to the basement of the Yawning Portal Inn & Tavern.
This area is for new players, and is considered a newbie zone. There
is also a quest located here which you receive from Durnan.

Here you can
buy and sell Dyes. Use these to change the color of your armor. Prices
are slightly higher than normal.

This is the
entrance to Undermountain level 1. Make sure you are outfitted with
good equipment, and have spoken to Durnan and purchased a pass to
enter the water well.

This is where
you log in, and appear each time you play, and there is a sign that
shows you the daily server news. Make sure and read this every day, as
you will find out when new quests are added, new levels, and other new
content or warnings of new HAKPAK's coming soon.

Take this door
and you will exit into Waterdeep's Dock district. There are many
shops, and areas to visit. There are also break-away levels off of
this area.

Stairs up to
the Yawning Portal's Bedrooms. Up there, you can find the Hammerfell
Merchant, as well as secret doors and other neat things!

7 |
This
is where Rolf the Cook keeps all his perishable food cold. The door is
locked tight. Maybe a good thief could pick the lock...
|

8 |
Grumpy old
Rolf the Cook. He has a quest for you to do. It is a low level quest,
but easy and worth the XP for starting players.

9 |
This is
probably the most used NPC in the game. You will meet Durnan and
Miltiades here. Durnan has a very large store as well as drink. He
will buy your items as well. Miltiades is a Healer, and sells healing
items for a small donation. Make sure to check out Durnan's junk shop
as well, because many other players sell off nice items sometimes--
Rare, Unique and Set items which can really help you!
